Ethical conflicts occurred on marketing when two people’s ethic standards are different with each other. And now, there is a new problem happened. The line between collecting customers data with invasion of privacy are become more and more blur. From a CRM prospect, collecting customers’ information can better serve the process of service personalization. Optimize the advertisements based on their browsing history, shopping cart, and their shopping behaviors. For example, Amazon has this personalization service, and recommend relevant or similar goods based on your browsing history. Who can say if it is good or bad? To some degree, this is convenient, but can still feel privacy invaded.

Living in a modern society, we need to take ethical conduct issues seriously. Not only in a business context but also in social media context. Once neglect this vital issue can bring a company PR a tremendous disasters. From the blog written by Tahir Akbar, my personally learned what are generally accepted ethics in digital marketing context. With the technology development, Internet penetrating into our lives more than ever. Through Internet, we can do almost everything, such as searching information, chatting, shopping or even supervising. Because of this, the importance of ethics in Web marketing become more critical. After reading the blog, me personally find out there are actually lots of behaviors can be count as unethical. These pop-up advertising or dialog boxes, or using methods to direct your visitors to another page are really annoying. Using unethical ways to make your website more easily searched by others and manipulate users’ views by paid reviews are misleading. These actions can greatly reducing the quality of searching by Internet users nowadays. Internet marketers should take this ethical issue seriously. Selling products or services through cheating cannot lead to a longterm relationships between vendors and shoppers.
